THE GRANITE BELT - 800 METRES UP, THREE HOURS FROM BRISBANE

Stanthorpe sits on the Granite Belt at 800 to 1,000 metres, which is why it can grow Shiraz, Cabernet, Verdelho and the "Strange Bird" alternative varieties that the coast cannot. It is also why this is a long day: two and a half to three hours each way via Cunningham's Gap. We think it is worth it, and we build the day so that nobody in the group has to drive it.

YOUR DAY

6:00 / 6:30am Pickup from Chermside, then the Brisbane CBD. Coffee stop at Aratula on the way up.

About 9:45am First cellar door. A guided flight of the estate's current releases - on the Granite Belt, the reds are the point.

About 11:30am Second cellar door.

12:45pm Two-course lunch at a winery restaurant (included on the with-lunch fare; available to buy on the without-lunch fare).

2:30pm Third cellar door, with time to buy bottles - they ride home in the coach.

3:30pm Depart Stanthorpe, with a rest stop at Aratula.

About 8:00pm Back in the Brisbane CBD, and Chermside shortly after.

FITNESS AND ACCESSIBILITY

Every passenger must be able to board the coach unaided and walk unassisted on gravel and lawn between the coach and the cellar doors. No personal assistance is provided on scheduled departures. Wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility aids cannot be carried on this tour - please contact us before booking so we can arrange a private vehicle (additional cost applies).

WHAT TO BRING

Flat walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle, and a warm coat - the Granite Belt is several degrees colder than Brisbane at any time of year and near freezing on winter mornings. Photo ID for tastings; all wine tasters must be 18 or over.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before departure. Cancellations inside 48 hours, and no-shows, are non-refundable. If we cancel the departure for weather or minimum numbers you receive a full refund or a free transfer to another date.
